Politicians are the only ones who can seemingly support two ways at once, and change horses in midstream without actually falling off. But theirs is but the trick of a cheap illusionist, achieved with smoke and mirrors. Certainly, in trying to find water, you can dig several holes. But, if you pursue one, deeply enough, you stand more chance of attaining your goal. The path must be chosen and explored, however difficult the beginning may seem. But, once you start the journey, quick progress can be made.
