Sometimes we choose what seems to be sensible over what we know to be right in our soul. We get tempted from the path we are meant to tread by one that seems either safer or shorter. In the end, we quite often find that we took a detour when the straight-ahead approach, though perhaps a bit more bumpy, would have been more appropriate. Could a shortcut now be a dead end? And could a rough road somehow become a joy ride?
