When we begin to experience a degree of ‘success’ in our endeavours, we sometimes fall into the trap of thinking that we have reached our destination, that we somehow ‘have it made.’ So we become lazy and slothful. Evolution grinds to a standstill. Pride sets in. And when its burden becomes heavy enough, it must be shed. The only cure for pride is humiliation. Although it can be embarrasing to be humiliated, its existence can work in our favour. When we are humble, we are close to the Earth and in harmony with Nature. There is a spiritual purpose behind accomplishment, just as there is one behind failure. See the wisdom at the root of both.
