Whilst it is vital, in relationships of any sort, to be aware of the sensitivities of another, it is also equally vital to honour your own needs. There is danger in becoming caught up in another’s emotions to the extent that it becomes draining and we become negatively entangles in ‘other’. At these times, it is difficult to have a strong sense of self. Right relationship requires a balance. Sometimes it is necessary to take a step back for perspective.
